Chronic Illness

I thought it would be good to have a place to share with you some information I have gathered about chronic illnesses, especially the ones I have. If you have any questions or would like to know more about CFS/ME, FM, POTS, or anything on this blog I’d love to hear from you.

Basic info about CFS/ME

There is a lot of information on this site dedicated to CFS/ME and related conditions

This site provides quite detailed information about CFS/ME.

This site is a leader in CFS/ME information and advocacy here in Australia. Lots of information.

This site is excellent and provides information on everything from CFS/ME basics to learning to live with the condition to help for families and loved ones of someone who is ill.

Here is an article about Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)

This is an article about Fibromyalgia (FM).

Here is the link to info about the clinic, CFS Discovery, that I am currently with.

4 Lessons for Teens Struggling with Sickness out Physical Suffering – The Rebelution

There are a few other great articles written by teens with chronic illness for teens with chronic illness on this site as well (The Rebelution).

Encouragement for those who love someone with chronic illness –

This is a helpful article by a girl with CFS/ME about how to love someone with chronic illness.

Other resources I recommend that have provided encouragement for me as I walk this road –

Sermon: The Pruning of Adam by Eric Ludy bravehearted.com I love Eric Ludy’s sermons and recommend them highly. This one is about how God uses difficulty in our lives to prune and purify us and develop deeper intimacy with Him so that Christ can be more clearly seen in and through our lives.

Book: Rose from Brier by Amy Carmichael This little book is a precious treasure to me. Given to me by my mum the first year I was sick, this little book of letters written by Amy during a long season of illness and bed rest, for those who are also ill, has been a constant source of encouragement, comfort and perspective, and always points me back to Jesus Christ. I highly recommend it for anyone walking through long term illness.

Daring to Hope by Katie Davis Majors – This is one of my favourite books!
